The film is about survival and uprootedness, how the poor find pleasure, how the old stay young, how the melting pot won’t melt.Steeped in the tradition of street photography, it was filmed in painterly 16mm, with a visual quality that sets it apart from digital HD documentaries. The light and music are transporting to another time while the issues impacting immigrant culture continue to be played out today in a much harsher environment.Brighton Beach was broadcast in the US and internationally
