Not only are our oceans filled with garbage, but the organisms living inside of them are consuming what we are leaving behind. These plastics take years to breakdown, and when they do, they become microplastics; even the break down processess of these plastics release greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change, causing observable negative effects to the environment. There are ten rivers around the world which, combined, contribute to 90% of plastics entering our oceans.
