A vignette of a single Filipino mother raising her son in America. - ABOUT THE PROJECTOn Mommas follows a Filipino mother, Arlene, and her teenage son, Marcel, as they move to a new neighborhood, far away from the comfort of their vibrant Filipino community. Upon arrival, they are met with disdain from the community. To cope, Marcel tries to distance himself from his cultural roots, in hopes that it will help keep his aggressors at bay.
