Finding Young John Denver - !!! Faaar Out, the bookI’m Carl Franzen. I wrote the song, “On the Road,” which John Denver recorded on his Back Home Again album. Now I’ve written a book about Young John Denver—stories about John before he became famous. This book started as an oral history project. I went on the road with my camera to interview people who befriended or influenced John Denver before he became famous. As I researched and listened, the idea evolved. The project became a book.
